Spin to win: Raising funds and awareness for digital inclusion

In June 2024, we hosted a company-wide Spinathon in 22 of our offices to support the Colt Bike Ride: our largest charity fundraising event. Hundreds of Colties across our network limbered up, worked up a sweat and spun from morning ‘til night to raise funds and work on their fundraising targets in preparation for the main event later this year.

Riders challenged themselves to cycle for as little or as long as they liked on static exercise bikes, encouraging their friends, family and colleagues to support them in aid of local charities that promote digital inclusion.

The Colt Bike Ride, taking place in early September 2024, challenges riders to pedal 450 kilometres from our office in Brussels to our office in Dusseldorf over the course of four days. To date, the annual event has raised €1.2 million for worthy causes.

It’s estimated that during the Spinathon, all riders across our network collectively rode for an impressive 13,200 kilometres; that’s enough distance to ride to Dusseldorf from Brussels and back again almost 30 times!

Digital inclusion describes the growing concern that not everyone has the skills or means to interact with the world digitally, has a regular connection to the internet or can access vital services due to accessibility limitations. Almost three billion people worldwide are digitally excluded and fall into these categories. As a digital infrastructure company, we feel dutybound to address this issue and make sure every voice the world over is heard.

You can watch the wrap-up video on our YouTube channel. The story was captured by Bold Content Video, our creative partner for the bike ride.

If you’d like to contribute to any of the charities we’re supporting, head to our dedicated Colt Bike Ride landing page.
